There is a very large range of filter cartridges.
The choice of it is determined by a successive elimination according to the operating conditions and the results. .
- Depth filters
- Pleated filters
Depth filters are available in absolute or nominal pore size. The proposed micro ratings are from 200 µm till 0.5 µm. The materials of construction of Depth filters are polypropylene, nylon and polyester .
Pleated cartridges are also available so well in absolute or nominal pore size from 100 to 0.05 µm, these last one call pleated membranes . The available constructions materials are vast and numerous as polypropylene, polysulfone, nylon, glasswool , PVDF ....
Standard dimensions are for the length 10, 20, 30 or 40" and with a diameter of 2.5" . Other less common sizes are also available.
The proposed end connections adapt to any filter housing and therefore the interchangeability is assured.
Stainless steel cartridges are also process cartridges. They are used where the polymer medium can not agree as for :
- Filtration of very viscous product
- High temperature filtration
- Steam filtration
- Filtration of products chemically incompatible with polymers
- etc, ...
Below are 4 types of the most experienced stainless media :
There are different types of cartridges for air filtration. Here are the main ones :
- Cartridges with PTFE membranes for venting tanks
- Stainless steel cartridges for steam filtration
- Cartridges for compressed air
- Cartridges for air induction
Note that some cartridges can filter liquids as well as gas. In this case the cut off is 10 times smaller for gases than for liquids.
Cartridges with activated carbon allow to deodorize and also the decolour water.
They consist of an activated carbon sintered block with a very large area to absorb the contaminants.
This last one is protected by a layer of polypropylene pre-filtration.
Hydraulic cartridges are used for filtering the oil of hydraulic systems
