Membrane filtration is a filtration method for separating water from soluble substances, such as oils, organic materials (soap), suspended solids and metals (ionic or particulate).
It can be used as well as for eliminating the waste water pollutant's as well to produce process water. It can also be used for any separation of molecules in a liquid
medium.
Filtration on ceramic membranes is generally used as an alternative for organic membrane filtration in the following cases
- Viscous liquid filtration
- High temperature filtration
- Liquid filtration incompatible with organic membranes
It should be noted that the reverse osmosis is not possible with ceramic membranes.
